November 30, 2019: Four prisoners escaped from the Davidson County Juvenile Detention Facility by running out the front door while guards were distracted.
September 22, 2019: An unknown number of youth detainees at the Wilder John S Youth Development Center in Somerville, Tennessee participated in an uprising that spread between multiple pods of the facility. Detainees damaged ceilings, doors and mirrors and attempted to break
April 9, 2018: Two teachers were injured after an altercation at Gateway to Independence, formerly known as Woodland Hills Youth Detention Center. The altercation led to one juvenile escaping the facility.
December 25, 2016: Six inmates escaped early on Christmas day by removing a toilet from a wall and climbing through the hole.
August 18, 2015: A series of fights broke out at Morgan County C.F. including some attacks on prison guards. Two officers were seriously injured.
September 27, 2014: A group of thirteen juveniles overpowered a guard and took his keys and radio before breaking out of the dormitory and then out of the exterior fence. All but one were recaptured within hours.
September 3, 2014: Just two days after 32 juveniles escaped from the facility, more two dozen juveniles broke out of their rooms and into the yard. They covered their faces, attempted to break into buildings and wielded sticks and fire extinguishers.
September 1, 2014: Thirty-two juvenile detainees, nearly half the population of the facility, escaped the state-run juvenile detention center by slipping under the fence. The facility is operated by the Tennessee Department of Children's Services.
May 7, 2014: At approximately 4 a.m. six or seven juveniles broke out of their cells and escaped into the facility's outdoor courtyard where they ran around until staff convinced them to return to their cells.
