Uprising at Lincoln Hall School for Boys, New York

December 11, 2010: An uprising involving around 30 teenage boys took place at Lincoln Hall, a privately run juvenile facility for boys contracted by the state of New York. The youth allegedly threw rocks, smashed windows, and injured several employees.

Georgia 2010 Work Stoppages

December 9 -15, 2010: A multiracial group of prisoners participate in a coordinated work stoppage in at least six facilities and demand decent wages, better social services and respect for their civil liberties. After six days and brutal reprisals, including two prisoners Kelvin Stevenson and Miguel Jackson being beaten with hammers, the strike ends. It takes days for family members to learn if the prisoners survived the beating and months and a lawsuit for video and pictures of the incident to be released.
