January 25, 2016: Regina Correctional Centre prisoners staged at least three meal refusals since November of last year. This comes in response to the privatization of food service last year, which prisoners say has degraded the quality of the food.
January 22, 2016: Three men escaped from the Orange County Central Men's Jail and are the subject of a significant manhunt. Two of the men remained on the run for a week and made it all the way to San Francisco before they were finally caught.
January 7, 2016: Between 100 and 150 prisoners at Regina Provincial Correctional Centre in Saskatchewan refused meals for 24 hours to protest the quality of food they were being served by a private company called Compass Group of Canada.
