Late October 2017: Around 23 prisoners held in the Maricopa County jails went on hunger strike to protest poor food quality.
October 12, 2017: Prisoners set fire to the "specialty sewing plant" of the prison and attempt to escape. Four prison employees are killed and several others injured.
October 4, 2017: Prisoners take control of a unit of the prison and set fires, chase officers with knives, and climb on the roof. They are able to hold their unit for three hours until their captors regain control.
