Uprising at Regina Provincial Correctional Center, Saskatchewan, Canada

A group of prisoners participate in an uprising causing an estimated $55,000 in damage. The prisoners were demanding that other members of their organization be put on the same range. Many of them signed a note requesting transfer of other members of the Saskatchewan Warriors.

According to the Regina Leader-Post: “a group of inmates on Tiers 1 and 2 of Unit 2 were exercising when they simultaneously began breaking off sprinkler heads and smashing windows on the range. During the incident, the men armed themselves with brooms, mops, pails and wheels broken off carts.”

The prisoners voluntarily locked down in their cells when tactical units responded to the uprising.
