A small uprising occurred after one juvenile inmate threw urine at a correctional officer. This triggered juveniles in another room to begin flipping tables and chairs and using furniture to barricade a room with two correctional officers inside. Two inmates also attacked correctional officers while others threw tables and chairs, smashing one window and causing other damages to the facility. Property damaged totaled more than $3,000.

Ten are charged in connection with the event with charges ranging from kidnapping, vandalism, and aggravated rioting to assault and harassment. Four plead guilty in June, 2019 and will serve their additional time in an adult prison. Two of the defendants plead guilty to aggravated riot charges and the other two plead guilty to vandalism.
