Uprising at Henry County Jail, Indiana
Henry County Jail, New Castle, Indiana
August 3-4, 2016
Prisoners set fire to mattresses and jail uniforms on two subsequent nights. The first fire is set in the male assigned part of the jail. The next night prisoners in the women’s side light another fire. Prisoners also attempt to deactivate the locks on their jail cells. Prisoners used toilet paper, writing materials, and uniforms to set fire to the “ball kit” of the cell doors in an attempt to gain access to the day-area of the jail.
