Uprising at Butler County Jail, Kansas
Butler County Jail, Butler County, Kansas July 10, 2016 Prisoners take control of the dining hall and around fifty refuse to return to their cells. They tip over tables, destroy surveillance equipment and set off fire extinguishers in an uprising that was sparked by low quality food. Butler County Sheriff Kelly Herzet says incidents of this nature are common. The prisoners returned to their cells after being threatened with tear gas.
