Hillcrest Youth Correctional Facility, Salem, Oregon

Three juvenile detainees barricaded themselves in a room and armed themselves with a pair of scissors and a leg broken off of a bunk bed. Police were called to the scene, but the youths eventually surrendered without use of force.
Hillcrest Youth Correctional Facility was permanently closed on September 1, 2017 when the institution was combined with the MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility in Woodburn, Oregon.
The event followed an uprising at the same facility three days prior.
