September 8, 2014: Three juvenile detainees barricaded themselves in a room and armed themselves with a pair of scissors and a leg broken off of a bunk bed. Police were called to the scene, but the youths eventually surrendered without use of force.
September 5, 2014: Police from two agencies responded when multiple youths at Hillcrest Youth Correctional Facility refused orders from staff and damaged a door and multiple windows.
May 31, 2014: Following a fight between prisoners earlier in the week, a disturbance occurred at the prison involving 14 prisoners. Department of Corrections spokeswoman Liz Craig stated that no further details were available regarding the nature of the incident.
May 26, 2014: A fight involving at least 46 prisoners broke out at the prison and resulted in injuries to two staff members. Later that week, another disturbance involving at least 14 prisoners occurred at the same facility.
