An unknown number of prisoners participated in an uprising in which they destroyed prison infrastructure and barricaded doors to prevent guards from entering their unit.
According to Keith Acree, Spokesperson for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, the prisoners were reacting to a newly imposed lights out curfew.
