Lieber Correctional Institute, Ridgeville, South Carolina
January 18, 2012

Prisoners assaulted two officers, took their keys and destroyed the Ashley dorm in an uprising that lasted five hours.  Approximately 220 prisoners participated in the uprising.

Lieber Correctional Institution Major Thierry Nettles told WCSC, “there wasn’t a window in any of the offices and we got five on each side that were still intact. They broke out all the windows. Pulled down the lights out of the ceilings, broke sprinkler heads.”
