El Dorado Correctional Facility, Butler County, Kansas
June 24, 2017
Seventy prisoners, finding the doors to their housing unit unexpectedly unlocked, leave the unit and refuse orders to return. Eventually, prisoners return to their cells, but place objects in the way of the doors, preventing them from securing the cell blocks. They make weapons from broom and mop handles. They set fires, attack surveillance cameras and break into an office.
Five days later, prisoners stage another uprising at the same prison.
