Kawartha Lakes Police responded with a heavy police presence to a disturbance at Central East Correctional Centre. According to prison officials, inmates in one unit of the prison reportedly started multiple small fires and damaged their cells and the unit they are hosted in. The uprising lasted three hours before special response teams were called in and regained control. Unconfirmed reports also stated that inmates tried to breach a section of the building, tore down lights, damaged the ceilings, and may have had weapons.
