Following a 1 AM cell-phone sweep by 100 officers prisoners attacked a guard, who raised an alarm. Four officers who responded to the alarm were then attacked by a group of twenty prisoners, according to the officers. Three suffered minor injuries and one, whose face required surgery spent the night in a hospital.

An ADC spokesperson said the sweep was conducted following the discovery of two large caches of cell phones and other contraband. In Arkansas, “use of a cell phone by an inmate” is a class B felony.
