December 9 -15, 2010: A multiracial group of prisoners participate in a coordinated work stoppage in at least six facilities and demand decent wages, better social services and respect for their civil liberties. After six days and brutal reprisals, including two prisoners Kelvin Stevenson and Miguel Jackson being beaten with hammers, the strike ends. It takes days for family members to learn if the prisoners survived the beating and months and a lawsuit for video and pictures of the incident to be released.
