Attack on Guards at Yakima County Jail, Washington

Four prisoners were charged with second-degree assault after attacking a corrections officer at Yakima County Jail.

The incident started when two prisoners switched cells without authorization. When a guard went to investigate the incident a prisoner struck him with a closed fist in the back of the head, according to a probable cause affidavit.

As the two began to fight, three other prisoners jumped in and began striking the guard.

Other corrections officers broke up the fight shortly after. According to the affidavit, the attacked guard suffered a fractured nose and rib and was treated at a local hospital.
