One correctional officer was choked and another received a sprained wrist after what media outlets described as a “large disturbance” at Troup County Jail. Details of the incident are unclear and the number of inmates who participated in the disturbance is unknown.
In the aftermath of the incident, one inmate was charged with Aggravated Assault on Peace Officers, Felony Obstruction of Officers, and Inciting a Riot. Authorities alleged that the inmate charged convinced the other inmates to carry out the attack.
